Clifford Chance Application Process
Find out everything you need to know about the Clifford Chance application process below.
Stage one
The first step of the application is to complete an application form. Due to the large volume of candidates applying for jobs, the firm asks applicants to double-check their answers, show a genuine interest in the firm and to allow their personality to shine through their answers. Clifford Chance was the founding partner of RARE recruitment, software which asks students about their background while applying, so their achievements can be assessed in light of their setbacks. These questions are optional, however, and you will not be penalised for not answering them.
Stage two
After this, applicants will have to take the Watson Glaser test, an aptitude test that assesses one's critical thinking skills. You will have to complete it online by a certain date, it has 40 questions and takes 30 minutes in total. A practice test is available for free on the Clifford Chance website, with more available on external websites for a fee.
Stage three
Providing you pass the Watson Glaser test, you will be invited to an assessment centre for a 75 minute interview. While the practice is now common, Clifford Chance was one of the first firms to use CV blind interviewing, meaning whoever conducts your interview will not know anything about your background. You should receive an outcome as quickly as possible, sometimes within 24 hours.
