Dechert Application Process

From the application form and video interview to the assessment day, here's all the key information you'll need to know about Dechert's application process.

Stage one

At Dechert, you will need to apply for a vacation scheme first. During the scheme, you will be automatically assessed for a training contract. The first stage is an application form which is completed online. Key deadlines for our applications are:

Application Opening: 1 September 2023

Winter Vacation Scheme Deadline: 27 October 2023

Spring Vacation Scheme Deadline: 31 December 2023

Summer Vacation Scheme Deadline: 31 January 2024

Stage two

The second stage of the application process will require applicants to take part in a video interview and a written exercise. The element of the process is intended to give applicants an opportunity to bring their application to life and showcase your motivation for a career in commercial law at Dechert.

Stage three

Successful candidates will then be invited to an assessment day, where they will undertake a variety of exercises. The assessment day will compromise of an interview with a partner and senior associate as well as the opportunity to meet a current trainee. We believe that assessment days are a two-way process and include plenty of time for questions from applicants.
