Mayer Brown Application Process
Every law firm has unique elements of their application process. It's important that when you apply to a firm like Mayer Brown, you are aware of all the steps in the process so you can perform to the best of your abilities.
Stage one
The first step of the recruitment process is to complete an application form, which asks you to provide details on your educational background and any work experience. Don’t worry if you haven’t done any legal work experience, just include any experience that shows you have transferable skills. Alongside your application you will complete two online tests: a verbal reasoning test and a situational strength test. These tests aim to assess your verbal comprehension skills and your judgement in and reactions to different scenarios. Your responses will be scored according to the skills and traits you show while answering the questions, and you will need to meet or surpass the benchmark score to progress to the next stage.
Stage two
Successful candidates will then be asked to complete a 45-minute Mayer Brown trainee job simulation. This involves answering multiple choice, written and video interview questions based on various scenarios and tasks our trainees will be expected to complete during their Training Contract.
Stage three
Candidates who successfully pass the previous stages will be invited to the final stage in the vacation scheme and training contract application process: an assessment centre. The day consists of various tasks including, a written task, group exercise and a fact-find assessment. Those applying for a training contract will also sit a final stage interview, whilst successful vacation scheme applicants will compete the interview on the scheme. The training contract interview will be conducted by two partners, or a partner and a senior associate.
