Profile:

A year ago, I attended my first AS event. I had no connections to the legal field, with no idea on what firms wanted to read throughout the application forms or see at Assessment centres. Fast forward a year, I received four vacation scheme offers and have accepted a Training Contract with my dream firm, Trowers & Hamlins.

As a state school educated, first generation lawyer, and the first in my family to attend university, diversity within the legal sector and at my chosen firm is hugely important to me. When visiting law firms, I often thought to myself that there was a lack of individuals who shared my background, who sounded like I do, or had the same experiences. I also thought, If I feel like this, surely clients would notice this too. As the legal sector diversifies, so do other business sectors, with businesses being owned by a wider range of individuals now. This is one of the reasons why I chose Trowers & Hamlins. To them, diversity isn’t just a tick box, it is engrained in everything that they do. From a variety of support networks encompassing all diversity strands and more, to diversity events with clients, it was clear to me that Trowers & Hamlins is going above and beyond to diversify the legal sector in their own way, and this is everything that I stand for. The fact that a number of Partners at the firm are first generation university educated was so encouraging to me in the fact that I could go on to be a Partner in years to come. My background will not hold me back at Trowers & Hamlins. In fact, it will drive me more!
