Profile:
After completing my university studies, my commitment to social mobility and empowering young people led me to volunteer for a year with the City Year UK charity. I had an incredible year, primarily coaching and mentoring at-risk students, which culminated in a position at The Royal Household. Following that opportunity, I worked for the International Development Select Committee, chaired by Stephen Twigg MP, at the House of Commons. I then studied the accelerated LPC and commenced my training contract at a leading global City law firm that same year and went onto qualify into the corporate practice at that firm. I have since joined sports law specialist, Northridge Law where I act for financiers, sponsors, governing bodies, professional clubs and sportsmen on a whole range of matters in the world of sport and sports technology.
I am well aware of the challenges that people may feel they face, or do face, in attempting to enter the legal profession. As a black person, I am a part of an underrepresented group within the legal industry. I am also a first generation lawyer who had little early exposure to practising lawyers. I was also educated in a state school and went on to study at a non-Russell Group university. All of which makes me a non-traditional entrant into City law.
I would be happy to provide advice to anyone about the application process, and/or the legal profession more generally. More than happy to also discuss how I overcame the challenges I faced in pursuing a career in Law. Please do not hesitate to contact me
