I qualified into the Finance practice at DLA Piper in 2012 and spent four and half years there before moving across to Dechert with a small team to set up a new Leveraged Finance practice, which is where I have been for the last two and a half years.<\/p>\n
I am in the first generation in my family to attend university, as well as the first lawyer in my family. Although I was successful in earning a place at Bristol University to study Law and a place on a vacation scheme at DLA Piper which led to my training contract, I really felt the lack of personal connections with people who had been through the same processes as I was going through – particularly when applying for vacation schemes and training contracts – in contrast to some of my peers. Although there were a number of online resources that offered generic advice on becoming a qualified lawyer, it would have helped me enormously to have had someone I could ask questions to that were personal and specific to me and the path that I wanted to take. Through Aspiring Solicitors I would like to be that person for others who are in a similar position to the one that I was in when I started my career.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":12276,"template":"","acf":[],"yoast_head":"\n
