Profile:
I graduated from the University of Birmingham with a First in Law. From an early age I developed an interest in debating, politics, and law and knew it was a career path I wanted to pursue. However, growing up in a single parent, low-income working household and having had no contacts in the legal industry to guide me I struggled to pave a way through the process.
Whilst at university, Aspiring Solicitors played a pivotal role in my journey to attaining a Training Contract. As an organisation that valued the importance of diversity, social mobility and ethnicity I ensured that I was taking advantage of the number of opportunities that AS presented. Throughout university, I attended the Summer TC Springboard event, the Barclays mentoring programme, and the HeadStart into Vacation Schemes event. Above all, I attended a number of AS Law firm open days which enabled me to build up a legal network, increase my confidence and ultimately apply for the firm that I went onto pursue my Training contract with! Aspiring Solicitors opened many doors that were previously shut or difficult to open for me, but if I didn’t attend that one open day with AS I would not be in the position I am in today.
I strongly believe that the legal profession requires a diverse workforce and role models we should be able to look up and relate to. Regardless of your social background, race or education everyone is capable of achieving anything they set their mind to and there is help and guidance out there if you ask. I am more than happy to answer any questions and share my advice and experience, so please feel free to contact me for any concerns or queries about university, the application process, interviews, or about the process generally.
