“My journey began by attending open days in my first year of university, I became a student ambassador in my second year and more recently I was a full time Junior Officer on the AS team prior to starting my GDL.
AS has helped me greatly, through mentoring, application support and work experience opportunities. As somebody who didn’t have any legal experience, AS provided me with the confidence and the skills required to get a training contract. The Aspiring Solicitors vacation scheme and training contract HeadStart sessions were essential to my success. The quality of information on appropriate behaviours and how to react in certain situations gave me the knowledge and confidence I needed. Having previously worked as a Diversity Officer at Elevation Networks and as a school governor, I remain a keen advocate for diversity. Whilst I believe good work is being done, the sheer lack of diversity in the legal profession demonstrates to me that there is a long way to go.”
