Profile:

I am a Trainee Solicitor at Squire Patton Boggs. I graduated from The University of Warwick in 2016, having studied law. Since graduating, I have mainly worked as a Paralegal.

Growing up state school educated and wanting to pursue a legal career often felt like an uphill battle. This paired with the fact that as an openly gay Asian man, I did not think I fit the mould of what I thought was a ‘typical’ solicitor. This only fuelled my imposter syndrome and struggles with where to start, who to speak to and how to get my foot in the door. Although I have gotten better with shaking off that imposter syndrome, I feel like that self-doubt was definitely a hindrance in my confidence when applying for training contracts as it took me many years of failed applications and assessment centres to get to this stage. Now I am here, I am pleased to start my legal career at Squire Patton Boggs, a firm that celebrates my individuality and encourages me to actively contribute and shape its diverse culture.

I believe that there still is not enough ethnically diverse LGBT+ representation in the legal career and, as such, I am more than happy to share my experience and offer any advice to those who would benefit from it. Please do feel free to contact me regarding my experience at Squire Patton Boggs or anything LGBT+ or social mobility related.
