Profile:

I am an in-house Commercial Lawyer at TSB. Previously, I worked for Barclays within their Global Cash Management team for Corporate Banking, for five years upon qualification.

I graduated from the LLB in 2010 and self-funded the part-time LPC in 2013. I worked as a Legal Assistant in employment law from 2007 to 2013, varying my work and studies between full and part-time. On completion of the LPC I joined TLT as a Legal Assistant and six months later secured a training contract to start that same year. I completed seats in: Banking and Financial Services Disputes; Banking and Restructuring; Commercial/Tech/IP; and Corporate.

I did not undertake any formal vacation schemes. Instead, at the time of applying for a training contract, I focussed on my eight years’ experience of law in practice, along with demonstrating my determination and transferrable skills through my personal development, non-legal employment and extra-curricular activities.

I chose to read law at University after discovering my interest through A-level law. I was incredibly grateful for the invaluable advice and guidance I received throughout my studies, from those who offered to help as individuals or as part of Aspiring Solicitors.

The standard and competition for a legal career is increasingly high. The right focus and direction provided by someone with experience can make all the difference to your efforts. I feel it is important to take responsibility throughout my career for my part in improving the accessibility of the legal profession and to recognise and develop the potential in others, for the benefit of individuals, my employer and the profession as a whole. Being a Professional Ambassador for Aspiring Solicitors is one of the ways I continue to work towards that aim.
