Profile:

I am a 4th year Solicitor Apprentice at Kennedys Law.

Before I started the Solicitor Apprenticeship, I completed the 2-year Legal Apprenticeship achieving a Level 4 Paralegal Qualification with BPP University Law School. Following which I progressed on to the Level 7 Solicitor Apprenticeship and I am due to qualify in 2025.

My interest in working within the legal industry developed when I was sitting A-Level Law at Ormiston Rivers Academy, Burnham-on-Crouch. Whilst I was studying my A-Levels I undertook 6 months of voluntary work experience within a local Highstreet law firm every Thursday afternoon and full-time during school holidays. Following completion of my A-Levels I then became employed at a highly respected Barristers Chambers in London, as their receptionist/junior clerk, to further my experience within the industry and whilst I applied for the position as a legal apprentice.

I joined Kennedys Liability Division (Civil Litigation and Dispute Resolution) in 2019 and have so far had a variety of experience.

My apprenticeship experience to date:

  • Year1 & 2: Catastrophic Injury and Complex Motor
  • Year 3: Motor Claims Handling and Seconded to a global London market insurer working in their financial lines claims team (3 months)
  • Year 3/4: Public and Abuse Sector

I currently remain in the Chelmsford Local Authority team providing a service in defending a variety of Clients such as insurers and their customers, governmental/public bodies, and local authorities. Within this team, I frequently deal with Highways and Occupiers Liability Personal Injury claims and claims arising from allegations of historic abuse and neglect, bullying and stress.

I am a proud advocate of the apprenticeship programme; however, I also have a great understanding of the other routes available into qualifying a solicitor – there is no right or wrong route!

If you show resilience and the characteristics of a solicitor then I have no doubt that you will succeed regardless of your chosen route, background, or individual characteristics.

I believe that diversity and inclusion, in not only the workplace but also in day-to-day life, is incredibly importance as it creates a positive environment and a sense of belonging for all individuals to thrive in.
