Profile:

I studied my undergraduate law degree at the University of Birmingham where I graduated in 2017, during my time at university I conducted various work placements including at law firms, in house legal teams and working with my local MP to provide myself with all the necessary information to make an informed decision about my career pathway.

I was awarded funding in 2017 to travel to Beijing, China to work in two different law firms where I gained invaluable experience in understanding cultural backgrounds, applying knowledge in different and challenging situations and dealing with language barriers. Following my return from Beijing I undertook the accelerated LPC course at the University of Law combined with an MSc in Law, Business and Management.

My previous work experience and study cemented my desire to be integrated into a business as part of a legal team (as opposed to in private practice). I secured a training contract in Veolia’s in-house legal team in 2018 at which point I moved to London to work in Veolia’s head office alongside experienced solicitors in M&A, Commercial, Construction and Property while also developing a broad knowledge base assisting other members of the legal team and wider business

I qualified as a Junior Solicitor and have since been promoted to Solicitor at Veolia, a global environmental company with its three main activities in waste management, water management and energy services, working primarily on the negotiation of commercial contracts.

Becoming a qualified solicitor has not been without challenge and set-backs. I too cried over rejected applications and at times still feel a sense of imposter syndrome but believe that aspiring solicitors guided me to where I am now. I hope to give that support back to anyone taking steps on their journey into the legal profession.
