Profile:

I am an Associate at Penningtons Manches Cooper LLP (PMC). I qualified in March 2023 having completed my training contract. I studied law at City University London and graduated in 2011. Since then I have worked in various junior legal roles before finally realising my ambition of securing a training contract at a reputable law firm.

During this period I received endless training contract rejections from law firms, but I remained determined that I was going to achieve my dream. I joined PMC in July 2018 and worked as a paralegal in the Family team in London for a year before applying for a training contract at the firm. Thanks to the support and encouragement from my team I was lucky enough to be offered a training contract.

Being Asian, state school educated and the first person in my family to go to university, I have had to overcome many hurdles to get this far. I was a role model for my siblings who have followed suit and embarked on the start of successful careers. As an ambassador for Aspiring Solicitors, I hope to share my experience and inspire others. My story illustrates that there are various routes to becoming a solicitor and that the process of securing a training contract is not “one size fits all.” I want to show that the various barriers preventing people from entering the legal profession are not insurmountable. Please contact me if you need any help with applications for vacation schemes or a training contract or even if you have any general questions about the legal industry.
