Profile:
I am an Associate in the Employment team at Farrer & Co, having qualified in September 2016. During my training contract I did seats in Rural Property, Family, Private Client, Corporate and Employment. I studied Law with French Law at UCL and graduated in 2012, having spent a year abroad at Paul Cezanne Universite in Aix-en-Provence. I then took a gap year where I travelled and volunteered in Asia and later went on to do the LPC at Kaplan. The process in applying for and securing a training contract is undoubtedly complex and frustrating at times and it can be disheartening when you receive inevitable rejections from applications. I found that really tailoring my applications and only completing a few good quality applications was a more effective way of securing interviews. Remaining determined, positive and motivated is absolutely key to finding success in the process.
I believe that diversity within the legal profession is fundamental and that the profession should be accessible to everyone regardless of their gender, background, ethnicity or any characteristic that means they don’t fit the stereotype. The legal profession should be reflective of our richly diverse, cosmopolitan society and people should not feel that it is not within their grasp simply because they are from a different background. Equality of opportunity is central to nurturing a more equal society.
I am very happy to help with any questions about the application process or the legal profession generally.
