The AllAboutLaw Perspective
Wedlake Bell is a contemporary London law firm, with almost 250 years of legal expertise. The firm operates four key practice groups: private client, business services, real estate and dispute resolution, but also specialise in areas such as trademarks and employment litigation. One of the biggest benefits of a career at the firm is its size: it’s big enough that you’ll work on complex, high net worth cases, but small enough that you’ll work alongside senior lawyers.
Despite their stellar reputation attracting international brands and household names, the atmosphere at Wedlake Bell is supportive and nurturing. Recruiting eight trainees a year allows trainees to experience direct client contact from the start, as well as extensive support and guidance. You can be sure that everyone at the firm knows your name and is invested in your growth. As a result, the firm’s summer vacation scheme and training contracts have been commended as one of the best in London, according to the Lex 100.
Wedlake Bell are particularly passionate about the future of law, and the ever evolving nature of legal technology. The firm is constantly developing their legal services, to allow clients and employees to work faster and more cost-effectively. Their Innovation Committee works closely with all practice groups, the IT team, and partners to discuss ideas and new solutions. Examples of technologies the team is working on include: Data Science, Automation, and even artificial intelligence!
The firm is passionate about equality, diversity and giving back to their community. They work with many secondary schools and colleges to provide work experience and employment opportunities, allowing students to understand what they can achieve. Many of the firm’s lawyers go out into the community to provide support, via pro bono initiatives and reading with local primary school children. The firm even organised a week of free 30 minute legal advice appointments, for those dealing with divorce and other family disputes.
